What is Dateposit?

Dateposit helps two people put the same commitment behind a real-world plan. One person creates a private invite, chooses a commitment level, authorizes a temporary hold, and sends one single-use link to the guest.

Does Dateposit guarantee that someone will show up?

No. Dateposit cannot guarantee attendance. It makes the plan, commitment, and agreed consequences clear before both people confirm.

Is Dateposit an escrow service?

No. Dateposit is software, not a bank or escrow service. Third-party payment providers handle card authorizations and related payment activity.

What is a commitment hold?

A commitment hold is a temporary authorization on your payment method. While it is active, that amount may not be available to spend.

What does it mean when my hold is released?

Dateposit asks the payment processor to remove the temporary authorization. Your bank or card issuer then decides when that amount becomes available again. It may not happen instantly or appear as a traditional refund.

Is the service fee part of the commitment hold?

No. The service fee is separate. Before confirmation, Dateposit should show the commitment hold, service fee, and total so you can see what each amount means.

What is the standard cancellation cutoff?

The current standard model treats a cancellation made more than 4 hours before the scheduled time as an early cancellation. A cancellation made 4 hours or less before the scheduled time is a late cancellation. The app should show the exact cutoff time on the invite.

What happens if I cancel more than 4 hours before?

Under the standard rule, Dateposit requests release of your commitment hold. A service fee that has already become non-refundable remains separate, except where law or the plan-specific rules require otherwise.

What happens if I cancel 4 hours or less before?

Under the standard rule, 100% of your commitment amount can be forfeited, the service fee remains retained if charged, and your Reliability Score can be reduced by 10 points. Payment failure, fraud review, disputes, technical errors, or legal requirements can affect the final outcome.

What counts as a no-show?

A no-show means you fail to complete the required arrival check-in by the deadline shown for the plan and no approved exception or review changes that outcome.

What happens if I no-show?

Under the standard rule, 100% of your commitment amount can be forfeited, the service fee remains retained if charged, and your Reliability Score can be reduced by 10 points.

What can the person who showed up receive?

For an eligible late cancellation or no-show, the reliable person may receive Vault Credits after the required settlement, clearing, fraud, and dispute review. Credits are a platform remedy, not a cash payout.

What are Vault Credits?

Vault Credits are closed-loop Dateposit credits. They are not cash, are not bank deposits, cannot be withdrawn to a bank account, and cannot be transferred person-to-person.

How can I use Vault Credits?

Eligible Vault Credits may be applied toward eligible future Dateposit commitment holds or exchanged for approved third-party digital rewards offered in the Dateposit Reward Center. Reward availability can change.

What happens when I use Vault Credits toward a future hold?

The credits applied to that commitment are subject to the same plan rules as the rest of the hold. A late cancellation or no-show can cause the applicable credits to be forfeited under the plan rules.

Why can credits stay pending?

Eligible remedies can remain pending during a clearing period and review for settlement, chargebacks, fraud, payment reversals, or disputes. The app should show when pending credits become available.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests open the private link in a mobile browser, review the plan, verify required information, and accept there.

Can a private link prove who the guest is?

No. A single-use link limits reuse, but it is not by itself identity verification. Only send the link to the intended guest and complete any phone verification Dateposit requires.

How does check-in work?

At arrival, Dateposit can request temporary GPS access. If GPS is unreliable and both people are physically present, the approved 4-digit code backup can be used when available.

Does Dateposit track my location all day?

No. Location access is intended for arrival check-in, not continuous tracking. Dateposit should not use check-in location for advertising or unrelated tracking.

What if GPS or Dateposit is not working?

Use the approved manual code backup when both people are present. If a documented platform or technical failure prevents check-in, use the support/dispute path so the outcome can be reviewed rather than assuming the technical failure proves a no-show.

What if I feel unsafe?

Prioritize your safety. Leave or do not attend if you reasonably believe the situation is unsafe, and contact emergency services when needed. Use the report/dispute path for the Dateposit plan. Dateposit support is not an emergency service.

Can the host change the venue or time after I accept?

A material change to the venue, date, time, or commitment amount should require both people to review and accept the updated plan again. One person should not be able to materially change a locked plan unilaterally.

Can I dispute an outcome?

Yes. Use Dateposit support promptly and provide available evidence. The app should show the applicable dispute deadline. Disputes can involve check-in records, timestamps, payment status, technical logs, and other relevant records.

Does Dateposit run background checks?

No. Dateposit does not conduct criminal background checks or certify that another user is safe unless a separate verification feature is expressly added and described.
